Tracy Hjelmstad

Minot High School, 1990-1992

Tracy was a two year member of DECA at Minot High School where he served as chapter president his senior year.  He compete and qualified to represent North Dakota at the International DECA Conferences in 1991 and 1992.  Tracy participated in many community service projects while in DECA and was a leader of the local chapter.  After graduation he attended the University of North Dakota and the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine.  He practiced in Minot before moving to Edmond, Oklahoma where he is a physician at Advanced Podiatry.

Mike Offerdahl

Century High School, 1996-1999

Minot State University, 2001-2004

Mike was state president of ND DECA in 1998-99 school year. Following high school Mike went to Bismarck State where he was a two time State Vice President for Collegiate DECA and competed nationally both years. Mike then went to Minot State where he also was a state VP for one year and competed nationally placing high in Sports and Entertainment Marketing. Following school, Mike was hired by the National Basketball Association as the Director of Media/Public relations for the NBA D-League Dakota Wizards. After four years with the Wizards and one national Championship, Mike accepted the position as the first ever Assistant Ahtletic Director at the NCAA Division 2 Univeristy of Mary. He is currently at that same position as he handles all the marketing and advertising for all 16 sports for the Marauders. Mike was honored as one of North Dakota's 40 under 40 successful business members in 2008. He lives in Mandan with his wife Stacy, daughter Laikyn and their two dogs.

Amy Bjornson

Alumni, Century High School, 2000-2002

Amy Bjornson was a member of DECA at Century High School in Bismarck for two years, serving as president and competing at the state and national levels.  Amy graduated from Minnesota State University Moorhead (MSUM) in May 2006 with a Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in Communication Studies.  She serves on the Advisory Committee for Fargo Public Schools DECA Chapters.  She is the Radio Talk Show Producer for “News & Views” with Joel Heitkamp on KFGO 790 AM, KFYR 550 AM and KCJB 910 AM, based in Fargo, North Dakota.

Andrew Evanoff

Alumni, Minot High School, 2003-2005

Alumni, Minot State University, 2005-2009

Andrew Evanoff graduated from Minot High School in 2005 and Minot State University in 2009. He was a member of DECA for six years. He served as State Vice President for both the high school and college divisions. He placed second at the International Conference at the 2008 Conference. He is currently the Regional Account Manager for Abaxis, a medical device company in the Silicon Valley, California.

Becky Haakenson

Becky was a member of Century High School in Bismarck during high school where she competed at the state and national levels.  She also served as a state officer during her senior year.  She was a state officer for the collegiate division when attending Bismarck State College.  She served as the advisor at the University of North Dakota for two years while completing her masters degree.  She has an Associate of Arts Degree in Marketing/Management from Bismarck State College, a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Mary, and a MBA from the University of North Dakota.  She is the Professional Services Consultant for NISC (National Information Solutions Cooperative), Bismarck, North Dakota.

Brekka (Nybakken) Kramer

Alumni, Minot High School, 1992-1994

Brekka Kramer graduated from Minot High School and Minot State University. She co-founded the Greater Expectations for Minot Group, (GEM) and now serves as chair-elect for the Chamber of Commerce in Minot. She is the General Manager of the Minot Office for Odney Advertising.

Colin Eide

Alumni, West Fargo High School 1998-2000

Colin Eide served as state president for North Dakota DECA 1999-2000. He attended North Dakota State University from 2000-2004 and graduated with a degree in Business Administration. He is currently working for Best Buy Corporate Office as a Senior Demand Planning Analyst.

Dan Harbeke
Alumni, West Fargo High School, 1999-2000
Dan Harbeke was a member of DECA for one year at West Fargo High School.  He participated in local activities and competed at the state conference.  He completed an internship with the Fargo Moorhead CVB.  He graduated from Creighton University in 2004 with a BSBA in Marketing and Political Science.  He has worked for Union Pacific Railroad and currently is the Director of Public Affairs.  He currently does public speaking, has written a book titled, “Get In” as a motivation to success.

Danny Weigel

Danny was a member of DECA at Grand Forks Central High School for four years.  He served as State Vice President his junior year of high school and competed at the national level.  He completed the Peace Officer Training at Lake Region State College and is currently the Deputy Sheriff with the Walsh County Sherriff’s Office.

Deanna Klein

Alumni, Lake Region State College, 1983-1985

Deanna Klein was a member of junior college DECA, currently Collegiate DECA for two years.  She graduated from Lake Region State College and Minot State University with her Bachelor’s degree.  She received her Doctorate from Capella University.  She has served on the local advisory committee and continues to support DECA.  She is currently the Associate Professor for the Business Information Technology Department at Minot State University.

Dr. Kerry (Fricke) Gregoryk

Alumni, Century High School, 1985-1988

Dr. Kerry (Fricke) Gregoryk was a DECA member at Bismarck Century High School between 1985 and 1988. She was the local chapter secretary and North Dakota Secretary in 1988 when she attended the national conference as an officer and voting delegate. Kerry competed three years at the state DECA conference placing in Restaurant Management, Pepsi Learn and Earn Project, and Advertising Campaign.  Kerry is now a professor in the Business and Information Technology Division at Valley City State University and has helped judge DECA competitions for area high schools. Earning her Ph.D. in Education from North Dakota State University in 2006, Kerry believes DECA is a strong opportunity for high school students to gain valuable experience early while they are still choosing their career paths.

Dustin Zahursky

Alumni, Minot High School 1996-1998

Dustin was a member of DECA for two years.  He graduated from Lindenwood University in 2003 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing.  He was a state finalist in wrestling and a NAIA national college wrestling champion which led him to his entrepreneurial venture.  His business, Kutting Weight, designs and creates neoprene clothing for weight loss has been in business for four years with sales coming from the on-line stores internationally.  He is the owner of Kutting Weight and has been a national speaker, advocate and intern for The Truth Campaign.

Eric Trueblood

Alumni, Minot High School, 1999-2001

Eric Trueblood was a two year member of DECA at Minot High School and competed at the state conference and the national conference for two years.  He graduated from the University of North Dakota in 2006 with a degree in Business Economics and Marketing.  He is the co-owner of Aircorps Aviation, a WWII aircraft restoration facility.  Aircorps, which specializes in fighter aircraft, uses its rebuilding and fabrication expertise to serve a worldwide customer base.  He lives in Bemidji, Minnesota.

Greg Anderson

Alumni, Jefferson High School, Alexandria MN, 1984-1985

Alumni, University of North Dakota, 1985-1989

Greg was a member of DECA in Alexandria, MN before coming to the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks where he was a member for four years.  During that time he served as the Central Region representative on the National Officer Team from 1988-1989.  He was a teacher at the high school in Bemidji MN for five months, then at South East Career and Technology Center in Oakes for nine years.  Currently he is the Association Professor and the College DECA advisor at North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton, North Dakota (since 2000).

Heather (Funke) Helle

Alumni, Minot High School, 1988-1990

Heather was a two year member of DECA at Minot High School where she served as chapter president and North Dakota DECA state president her senior year.  She served 1990-1991 as National DECA President and traveled the country to assist states and chapters.  She graduated from the University of Minnesota with a bachelor’s degree and Kellogg School of Management in Chicago with her MBA.  She is the Divisional Vice President of Consumer Solutions Group at Walgreens.

Jenni Glick

Alumni, Minot High School, 1999-2001

Jenni Glick served as state reporter for North Dakota DECA 2000-2001. She attended the University of North Dakota where she received a BBA in Marketing. She attended graduate School from Bowling Green State University where she received her MA in College Student Personnel. She is currently employed as the Alumni/ae Relations and Giving Manager at St. Paul Academy and Summit School in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Jillian Ebertz May,

Alumni, Minot High School

Jillian May was a member at Minot High School and competed at the state and national level. She graduated from the University of North Dakota and received her degree in Business Administration. She currently is the Marketing Director of Design Integration for Best Buy Headquarters in Minneapolis, MN.

Jim Carlisle

Alumni, Central Cass High School, 1998-2001
Alumni, University of North Dakota, 2001-2006

Jim was a member of Central Cass High School DECA and competed at the national level.  He attended the University of North Dakota where he was an active member of DECA.  He served as the Central Region Vice President for College DECA (Delta Epsilon Chi) from 2004-2005.  He graduated from UND with a degree in Financial Management and Accountancy.  He is the Senior Financial Analyst at Cummins, a major manufacturer and marketer of diesel engines, based in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Jodi Olson

Alumni, Central High School, 2003-2006

Jodi Olson was a member of DECA at Grand Forks Central for three years.  She served as state vice president from 2005-2006.  She completed her Business Degree from Mayville State University.  She is the general manager at Victoria’s Secret in Fargo, North Dakota.

Jon Wahlund

Alumni, Minot High School 1989-1991

Jon Wahlund was a member of the DECA Chapter at Minot High School for two years.  He graduated from North Dakota State University in 1996.  Jon is the Managing Director of the Coteau Group, LLC.  He owns his own consulting company which he started in 2002 specializing in Large ERP Implementations, specifically PeopleSoft/Oracle. 

Josh Blikre

Alumni, Minot High School 1994-1996

Josh Blikre was a member at Minot High School for two years.  He served as the state DECA president from 1994-1995.  He competed two years at the state and national conferences.  Josh graduated from Concordia College in 2000 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in General Business and a minor in Communications.  He worked in the finance field in Colorado until he returned to North Dakota in 2008.  He is the Mortgage Banking Officer for American Bank Center, Bismarck.

Josh Labrensz

Alumni, Century High School 2000-2002

Josh Labrensz was a member at Century High School in Bismarck for two years.  He served as state treasurer from 2001-2002.  He placed first at the state conference and was a Top 10 Finalist in Apparel and Accessories at the International Conference his senior year.  He graduated from University of Minnesota, Carlson School of Management in 2006 with an Accounting Major and a Finance minor.  He was an auditor for public companies at Deloitte in Minneapolis for two years and is now a Senior Consultant in Unclaimed Property for Thomson Reuters in Philadelphia.

Justin Welk

Alumni, North Dakota State University, 2007-2010

Justin Welk , was a member of DECA at Fargo North High School for three years and graduated in 2006. He served as state vice president and state president for North Dakota DECA. He was a member of NDSU DECA and served as the State President for North Dakota Collegiate DECA before graduating with a Marketing degree. He currently works as a Project Manager for Sundog in Fargo, North Dakota.

Kavin Schieferdecker

Alumni, Minot High School, 1985-1986

Kavin Schieferdecker was a member of DECA at Minot High School for two years and competed at the national conference both years.  He graduated from the University of North Dakota with a BBA and Georgia Southern with a Master’s Degree in Sports Management.  He has been in the hotel business for 20 years.  He worked for Marriott International and has been with Hilton Worldwide for the past three years as the Director of Sales for the Hilton Anatole in Dallas, Texas.  One of the most rewarding things about the hotel business is the opportunity to live in many neat places.

Kelli (Hall) Clark

Alumni, Minot High School, 1996-1998

Kelli (Hall) Clark was a member of the Minot High School DECA Chapter for two years.  She served as chapter president and state vice president for North Dakota DECA.  She attended Missouri State University where she graduated with a bachelor of Science in Communication.  She received her Masters of International Business from Robert Gordon University.  She worked for DECA Inc. in Reston, Virginia for two years before moving to North Carolina.  She works for Corporate Communications for Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc., one of the country’s premier design consulting firms.

Kelsey Rood

Alumni, Grand Forks Red River High School, 1996-1998

Kelsey Rood was a member at Red River High School for three years. She served as a state officer and competed at state and national conferences. She graduated from Boston University in Boston, MA. She served as the Director of Communications for DaVita, Inc. a Fortune 400 company before pursuing her entrepreneurial aspirations. She currently owns Pure Barre in Beverly Hills, California and Edina, Minnesota.

Leslie (Herslip) Stevens

Alumni, Bottineau High School, 1986-1989

Leslie was a DECA member for three years at Bottineau High School.  She served as a state officer from 1988-1989 and attended the national conference.  She graduated from North Dakota State University in 1993 with a degree in Mass Communications/Speech.  She is the Marketing Coordinator for FMI/Apple Core Enterprises (Applebee’s) for the state of North Dakota, based in Minot.

Mike Deyle

Alumni, Bismarck High School, 1999-2002

Mike Deyle was a member at Bismarck High School for three years.  He served as the president of the Bismarck Chapter and District 2 Vice President for North Dakota DECA.  He competed at the state and national levels.  Mike graduated from the University of Minnesota, Carlson School of Management in 2006 with a Bachelor of Science in Business (Marketing Major and Advertising Minor).  He is the Store Team Lead for Target in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Stephanie Sandstrom

Stephanie Sandstrom graduated from Minot High School and the University of Mary. She served as state secretary for DECA and national president for Delta Epsilon Chi. She placed first at the national level in 2006. She is the project manager for the Buffalo Chip in Rapid City, South Dakota.

Stephen Joersz

Alumni, Valley City State University, 2006-2009

Stephen Joersz was a member of College DECA at Valley City State University for three and a half years.  He competed at the national level in financial services.  He graduated in 2009 with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and concentrations in management and finance.  He also received a minor in office management.  Stephen is selling insurance for Citizens Insurance Agency in Finley, North Dakota. 

Steve Shirley

Steve was a member of DECA at Fargo South High before attending the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks where he was active as both a DECA member and later as the chapter advisor.  He was active in a variety of DECA activities throughout the years and attended numerous state and national meetings and conferences.  Steve earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Business and a Doctorate in Education, all from the University of North Dakota. He is currently the President of Valley City State University in Valley City, ND (proud that VCSU has a Collegiate DECA chapter!).

Trisha “Hoff” Meidinger

Trisha Meidinger was a member of DECA for two years at Minot High School where she competed at the state and national levels.  She graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Minot State University and received her MBA from the University of North Dakota.  She is the Vice President Retail Banking Manager at American Bank Center, Bismarck, North Dakota.
