Why did you choose to be a member of DECA?

I was in DECA during high school and really missed it when I went to University of Jamestown my freshman year. Then I transferred to University of Mary and found out that I could do collegiate DECA, so I jumped on the opportunity. DECA has given me more knowledge and more opportunities than I could have ever imagined when I joined as a freshman in high school.

What do you like best about being a state officer for North Dakota DECA?

It has been a goal of mine to be a state officer since high school. I love that I am finally able to be a voice for the members of North Dakota DECA.

What do you like best about being a member of DECA?

Being a member of North Dakota DECA has allowed me to meet so many DECA members from across the state and country, and those members are some of the most creative and intelligent people I know today.

Have you had any unique opportunities because of your DECA experience?

My favorite opportunity I have had in my DECA experience would be the traveling. With travel has come the amazing opportunity of networking and sharing ideas with people from all over the country.

What organizations or activities do you participate in?

I participate in the University of Mary’s internship program. I have been an intern for the North Dakota Department of Public Instruction for a little over a year now. Obviously, I am very active in Colligate DECA. I have held the office of Treasurer and now President of University of Mary Colligate DECA.

How have these activities enhanced your college experience or career plans?

After transferring to University of Mary I wasn’t sure about my major and I didn’t know many people at school. DECA set me on my path to become a Marketing major and allowed me to meet so many friends that I wouldn’t have met otherwise.

What is your favorite color?

My favorite color is green!

What are your plans after graduation?

To be completely honest, I have no idea. This year of school I will have to decide on a lot and I am excited to see what the future holds for me.

If you had the power to make anything happen this year, what would it be?

I really hope that this year we are able to collaborate and do more with the high school chapters in the state. The high school chapters have a ton of knowledge and expertise that would benefit a lot of our collegiate chapters.

Why did you choose to be a member of DECA?

I chose to be a member of DECA because my advisor encouraged me to join because of the opportunities it brought and the people I could meet. I am so thankful she did because it has been incredible!

What do you like best about being a state officer for North Dakota DECA?

What I like about being a State officer is that I have the opportunity to be a students voice. I can share my opinion and work with so many different students and mentors and truly achieve a full learning experience.

What do you like best about being a member of DECA?

I like best about being a member is all of the people that I’ve met and have the opportunity to network with at every single event not only at State and National competition, but even within Minot as well.

What organizations or activities do you participate in?

At MSU, I am a student athlete and play on the Women’s Golf team. This year I am very excited to be a part of MSU’s Looyenga Leadership Program.

How have these activities enhanced your college experience or career plans?

Being a part of the Women’s golf team has enhanced my college experience greatly. I’ve been able to enjoy the game I love with an amazing team at some incredible courses. The Looyenga Leadership Program has allowed me to meet leaders in the city of Minot and come up with a project to help the community. Projects like this are something I really enjoy because it’s a great experience being able to help the community I care a lot about!

What is your favorite color?

My favorite color is blue.

What are your plans after graduation?

After graduation I hope to get my masters in marketing or management, and obtain a job somewhere I’ve never lived before for a new experience.

If you had the power to make anything happen this year, what would it be?

If I had the power to make anything happen this year, it would be to make my last year of my undergrad the best experience of university so far and not let stress take away from any experience. I hope to just truly enjoy my last year in golf, DECA, and my classes with my friends and hopefully networking with more people!

Why did you choose to be a member of DECA?

I chose to be a member of DECA because I wanted to be presented with new opportunities that I knew weren’t available through other organizations.

What do you like best about being a state officer for North Dakota DECA?

The thing I like most about being a state level officer is being able to provide a voice for my school chapter and trying to improve things as much as I can at the chapter and state level.

The thing that I like most about being a member of DECA is being able to connect and network with people from other schools and businesses.

Have you had any unique opportunities because of your DECA experience?

I have had many unique opportunities provided by DECA in my one year of being a member. Being able to attend ICDC to network and compete with and against schools and people from all over the world was a unique opportunity that I will never forget.

What organizations or activities do you participate in?

DECA is the only school organization that I am currently a part of.

How have these activities enhanced your college experience or career plans?

DECA has enhanced my college experience by allowing me to connect with people that I normally would not be networking with. It also allowed me to be a part of a team again and to be a part of something at my college that is bigger than any one individual.

What is your favorite color?

My favorite color is Cubbie blue.

What are your plans after graduation?

I do not have any sudden plans after graduating. My main focus is graduating from college.

If you had the power to make anything happen this year, what would it be?

One thing that I am passionate about is continuing to grow DECA at the high school level. I was never presented the opportunity to be a part of DECA in high school and I feel that having that opportunity at a young age would have helped me during high school and starting out my college career.
