DECA Members Helping Fargo’s Open Doors Mission
1,000 Ways to Show You Care
The North Dakota DECA officers have set a goal to collect items for Open Doors 65 to fulfill the need for those in the Fargo area who need them most. All items that North Dakota DECA collects will be gifted to the homeless. Items will be collected in the 22 North Dakota DECA Chapters across the state and bring them to the Fall Leadership Conference October 13, 2019.
DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality, and management with a focus on being active in their communities. This Community Service Campaign is just one of the requirements for Chapters to earn recognition and awards. As a part of the learning process, Chapter members practice skills like planning a hygiene and sock drive at their school, involve local businesses, and host events, and promotions within their communities to meet the goal.
DECA Chapters were challenged by the ND DECA Association Leadership Team to collect 2 items per member who attends the conference, which would equal more than 1,000 items if the goal is met. Items that will be collected are cocks – children or adult, any size or any color -and Hygiene items from a list that was provided by Open Doors.
If you would like to connect with a DECA Chapter and hold your own Hygeine and Sock Drive in support of the effort, please leave a comment or email info@nddeca.org to get started.
