Business partners are important to the success of North Dakota DECA. Business partners continue to support DECA and provide opportunities in leadership development, entrepreneurship, competition, and other areas that benefit youth. DECA has developed continued partnerships with many businesses in the state.
State Business Partnerships have been developed in a variety of ways.
Sponsors of conference activities, scholarships, leadership training, equipment and supplies or in-kind donations continue to build business partnerships in North Dakota.
DECA members continue to gain support from business and industry in our state at both the high school and college level.
Applebee’s and North Dakota DECA
In 2024, we celebrate two decades of a successful business partnership. The journey began in 2005 when Kevin Reisenauer, State DECA Advisor, and Chad Thompson, Manager for APPLECORE Inc., launched an annual pancake breakfast. DECA Members handled every aspect of front-of-house operations to serve thousands of pre-sold breakfast tickets. In 2022, the event evolved into a sales project, with DECA Members selling coupons for burgers redeemable at various Applebee’s locations across North Dakota. This initiative not only provides valuable work experience but also contributes to the Applebee’s Scholarship, awarded annually in March to a deserving North Dakota DECA Member.
By 2023, thanks to Applebee’s support, North Dakota DECA has raised over $220,000.
Sanford Health and North Dakota DECA
North Dakota DECA has been a partner with Sanford Health for more than five years. Throughout that time, Sanford has been a financial sponsor for North Dakota DECA as well as a partner in conferences and local activities. They have provided judges for competitions, presenters for workshops, and have served as an executive mentor for students. DECA has completed community service projects in an effort to provide products and funds for Sanford Health. Sanford was presented the Friend of DECA Award from North Dakota DECA in 2022.
