Judges Resource Guide

Every year more than 200 judges are challenged to find the best presentations and best-prepared competitors from more than 60 categories to represent North Dakota at the international level. This is what our members have been preparing for all year!

How to be a North Dakota Competition Judge

Judges are the lifeblood of our membership year. They are vital to the next step in a member’s DECA career and their future. And with 200 spots needed to be filled every year in 60+ competitive event categories, we’re certain we’ll be able to find a category that suits your industry or professional expertise.

We have two separate opportunities for judges to participate in Fargo and in Bismarck. The Fargo conference is for our Collegiate members and is typically held the second week in February and the Bismarck conference, for high school members, is held the second week March.

The biggest decision you have to make is the amount of time you would like to spend being a judge! Some events warrant 6 hours of judges time where others need 4 hours in the morning so you can get back to your own job duties right after lunch.

Collegiate DECA

Fargo – February 21, from 6:00pm to 9:30pm and February 22, from 8:30am to 12:00pm

Bring yourself and some extra business cards to leave with student’s evaluation forms if you would like them to reach out to you for a role in your company after the competition.
